Gmail's AI writes your replies. Not for everyone.

Google's Gmail Help page says Gemini in Gmail can write a new email or refine a draft you already wrote. It also says the feature requires an eligible Google Workspace or Google AI plan, with a trusted-tester program for personal accounts. The page never says Gemini sends emails for you.

The exact clicks

  1. On a computer, open Gmail (mail.google.com) and sign in.
  2. At the top right, click Ask Gemini. If you do not see it, your account may not have an eligible Google Workspace or Google AI plan yet.
  3. Type what you want in the box, for example: Write a short reply saying I can meet on Tuesday. Then click Submit.
  4. Read what Gemini wrote and change anything you want. Then send it yourself with Gmail's normal Send button. Google's page describes Gemini drafting text; it does not describe it sending emails.
  5. Optional: Gemini does not delete, archive, label, or mark emails as read until you explicitly confirm. After you confirm an action, Google says you have 60 seconds to undo it.
  6. Optional: if you use a personal account, Google says the feature is available through Google Workspace Experiments, a trusted tester program. Availability can change, so check Google's page.

What changes

  • Verified live twice on 9.10.2026 against Google's own Gmail Help page, Collaborate with Gemini in Gmail (support.google.com/mail/answer/14199860): the quotes about drafting, the eligible plan requirement, the Ask Gemini button, the explicit-confirmation rule and the trusted tester program.
  • Topic chosen because episode 64 promised it on air, and to move from privacy topics to a plainer everyday question: what does your own Gmail's AI actually do.

What it will not do

  • Exact plan names and prices were not checked, and the video does not say them. Whether a free personal account has access outside the trusted tester program was not confirmed.
  • The ChatGPT Gmail connector, Smart Reply and Smart Compose are separate features not covered here.
  • This channel did not test the feature on a live account. Button names are taken from Google's page; your screen may differ slightly.
